    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • My day to day tasks at National Grid varied depending on the workload but these tasks could include Project Management - leading weekly team meetings with various colleagues internal to the organisation and external as well to ensure the project is being delivered on time and on budget Junior Business Analyst - supporting the lead BA on projects with the support encompassing documentation, presentation and stakeholder engagement Business Consultant - identifying opportunities for digitising workflows within the Group Functions team and assessing the viability of any proposed solution

  • Yes, I have been fortunate enough to receive both professional and personal development while on placement.     Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • Yes, I was fortunate to be afforded the opportunity to lead on a project from inception up through delivery that had the scope of 10 000 monthly users which covered all the UK based colleagues.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • The Early Careers and New Talent Team have been nothing short of fantastic in providing and fostering an environment that ensures success while on the placement. Charlotte, who works in the New Talent Team responsible for Industrial Placement scheduled fortnight drop in sessions where any student undertaking a placement could raise any issues they were facing that might need addressing. In addition to the drop in sessions there was a dedicated safeguarding lead.

  • The Company Culture was that of a team spirit and that whether it may be a specific project, or company objective, each colleague throughout the organisation plays a vital role in ensuring targets set are all met.

  • My placement at National Grid has been an immensely rewarding and enjoyable experience. The opportunity to work with a team of dedicated professionals, tackle real-world challenges, and contribute to critical projects has been truly fulfilling. I have not only gained valuable skills but also made lasting connections within the organization. I would wholeheartedly recommend a placement at National Grid to anyone seeking a dynamic and impactful learning experience.
