Overview
Each vacation scheme student was allocated to a practice area - I sat in Projects and Construction. We were paired up with an associate who became our supervisor, they would give us our primary tasks and assess us for the training contract (alongside the two interviewers at the end of the two weeks). When we had completed our tasks, we could ask the others in the office if we could help with anything, and in the process we would get to network.
Skills
The skills I developed include: networking, researching, presenting, working under timed pressure, group working.
Business Insight
We were given an exclusive insight into the firm and that could not be gained anywhere else. In the process, we learned how an international law firm operates on the inside.
Culture
Clyde & Co had an exceptionally friendly culture. My supervisor was especially helpful, and everyone was glad to answer my questions and offer any guidance.
Your Impressions
I really enjoyed the insight. It was a great experience to be living and working in London for the first time, and to experience a taste of what it would be like working at such a firm.
Yes
I would try and gain specific insight into the firm and its culture via organising meetings with people currently there by using LinkedIn, attending open days and any other events the firm's early careers team runs. This way, you can learn things about the firm that are not displayed on the website, which will give you reasons exclusive to you as to why you specifically want to work at Clyde & Co.
