Overview
Attending property inspections for business rates purposes, compiling appeals to the Valuation Office and calculating annual rates liabilites and savings.
Skills
I have most definitely developed existing skills, in particular my ability to communicate professionally and consicely through interacting with a range of clients. One new skill I have learnt is how to comprehensively review the level of value attributed to any given property for business rates purposes.
Responsibilities
Undeniably, I was given free reign to meet one on one with clients, interact with other colleagues and even provide clients with settlement reports.
Support & Guidance
Plenty, primarily from my team and working with colleagues day in day out to enhance my ability to learn new skills. HR also provided support through the structured APC training and a catchup every few months.
Culture
Work hard, play hard.
Your Impressions
I really enjoyed my time at Savills, I believe I was trusted to operate professionally within the real estate arena and have felt that the placement has put me in good stead for final year of university.
Yes
Maintain professional standards at all times. Be yourself but not to the extent where you are unprofessional. Ensure you attend as many networking events as possible, whether that be internally or externally. Most importantly, take pride and joy in your work everyday.
