    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • Communicate with a range of people within and outside of the university to plan, organise and host a range of one off events for students to take part in. Assist within the SU and all it’s departments with any events that are being held. Assess events and evaluate how they could be more inclusive, cost effective, and exciting for students. Send out surveys and questionnaires to students to get a better understanding of what they want.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • Communication, written and verbal, are very important so I felt both of these developed quickly in the role. I was able to work on my time management, organisation, working independently and proactively. I was able to also work on leadership and task management skills.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • I was working independently a lot and I was given a lot of responsibility and trust during my placement, which allowed me to fulfil any personally goals and ideas I had set out to work on.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • Although I was working independently, I had constant support and advice from my supervisor and manager. Working alongside so many people, I was able to build relationships with members of staff in a range of departments, which meant I had a list of people to turn to when I was stuck.

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • The office is a friendly and inviting space. There is a relaxed atmosphere that allows for conversations as well as independent work. Everyone is always willing to help and knowledgeable about a range of things.

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • I had a great time and was able to build relationships with a lot of members or staff, who were then able to advise on future opportunities and still advise me even though I’m no longer working in the office.
