Overview
Day to day I completed an array of bioengineering tasks ranging from helping with design work to completing the RTM. I also was involved in the STEM team taking on the role of an organiser pulling together outreach events targeting schools with students from a varying degree of socio economic backgrounds. I also worked alongside Surgeons and a team of highly professional engineers from different backgrounds to develop a new type of hip arthroplasty system.
Skills
I developed an insightful understanding of the NPD lifecycle I learnt how to use various software programs such as MIMCS, Siemens NX, Excel coding Event organising and planning skills. More importantly I developed key communication skills and had an abundance of opportunities to develop my public speaking skills which will translate well into any future employment opportunities. Alongside this basic skills such as time management and punctuality and decorum were essential to the job.
Responsibilities
As my placement progressed I took on more responsibilities, and I never felt out of my depth. Despite this I took on an assortment of roles and responsibilities ranging from organising STEM events with local schools to coordinating team meetings and recording the meeting minutes for future team reflection. Other responsibilities I took on would include, My own personal projects, promotion of mental health about site, running organised health related events and guiding people around site.
Support & Guidance
A huge amount of support was provided by the team and supporting members on site. The company was also extremely lenient when it came to taking days for personal and mental health reasons or even just sickness. In terms of guidance, I was provided with a fantastic amicable, young and passionate mentor who introduced me to everyone and helped me every step of the way along the journey. He certainly made the integratory period where I was familiarising myself about the site and with the team significantly easier and more comfortable.

I wholeheartedly embraced and thrived within the company's vibrant culture. From day one, it was evident that our values and ethos aligned seamlessly. The team's warmth and inclusivity fostered a sense of belonging, making each workday a joyous experience. I embraced the collaborative spirit, actively contributing to our collective goals. My passion for innovation and dedication to excellence resonated with the company's ethos, allowing me to make meaningful contributions. As I navigated the dynamic challenges, I continually found inspiration in the company's culture, fueling my motivation to excel and grow alongside my colleagues. My journey here has been a testament to my genuine love for and alignment with the company culture.

I immensely enjoyed my placement, primarily due to my profound passion for medical engineering. Being able to immerse myself in a field aligned with my interests was incredibly fulfilling. Moreover, the company's positive and supportive culture enhanced my experience. It provided a conducive environment for me to flourish, fostering collaboration and personal growth. This combination of a captivating field and a nurturing company culture made my placement an exceptional and enjoyable journey. I felt both professionally and personally fulfilled, and my enthusiasm for my work and the company's culture was evident throughout my time there.
