Overview
I completeed cognitive assessments, behavioural experiments and relaxation sessions with patients who have experineced a brain injury or stroke in an acute unit and also in the community when they returned home.
Skills
I developed my communication skills as many of the stroke patients had communication difficulties. I also developed bed side mannor skills. I learnt a lot from working alongside psychologists such as how to administer and score cognitive assessments.
Responsibilities
I was given a huge amount of responsilbility, organising sessions with patients who have just experienced a hugely traumatic event in the lives.
Support & Guidance
I was hugely supported throughout by my placement supervisor.
Culture
The team wer lovely to me while respecting that I had a lot to learn.
