Overview
Gathering the work from students in the Contour department and creating social media posts/videos to help promote the Universit course. Create posters and hand-outs fro open days. Research into how to best promote the course, as well as setting up and being apart of open days.
Skills
Social media managering and social skills have increased due to the creation of posts, and talking with upcoming students/parents during open days. Leadership skills have developed by taking charge of promotion of the Contour course, as well as featuring in a video promoting for DMU's Twitter account.
Responsibilities
I was given a vast amount of responsibility due to the role I played for our social media. As well as speaking and acting as a model student dueing open days. I also gave a presentation the four year groups for social media content creating, with the leacturers having no role within this.
Support & Guidance
The lecturers were there at any point to help, however this internship was very independant and so there wasn't as mcuh support needed throughout.
Culture
DMU has a range of students from, not only across the UK, but across the world, and so it was nice to see that array of students and staff on a daily basis.
Your Impressions
I really enjoyed this placement. Being such an important role within my subject at my Uni gave me so much responsibility and I felt like I made a difference.
Yes
Try not to over-work yourself. During my time here, I had two other jobs, as well as a MA to complete and so I felt quite drained a lot of the times.
