Overview
In my role, I oversaw the entire software development life cycle. This encompassed gathering user feedback, writing and testing code for a web application, and utilizing technologies like Angular, the Elastic Stack, and Python. Additionally, I integrated with various internal tools at JPMC.
Skills
Definitely, it was a great way of learning how to code a web application, learning how to use different technologies, and becoming more familiar with the Scrum process. As for soft skills, I have improved my presentation skills, communication, as well as organisation.
Responsibilities
From the start, I've been responsible for developing important features for our web application. I've also played a role in testing the application during UAT. Occasionally, I've had the opportunity to demonstrate our tool to users, helping them understand its functionality. This role has allowed me to contribute to our team's goals and engage with end-users.
Support & Guidance
Throughout my placement/internship, I received substantial support and guidance from a variety of sources. Despite my team being overseas, they were always ready to provide assistance and advice. My managers prioritized my well-being and integration within the team. I also had the privilege of receiving mentorship from experienced colleagues, which greatly contributed to my professional development. Moreover, the organization hosted numerous enriching events throughout the year that enhanced my overall learning experience.
Culture
I was genuinely impressed with JP Morgan's culture for several reasons. Firstly, the company embraces inclusivity, allowing individuals to be their authentic selves, a characteristic particularly prominent at the Bournemouth campus. Moreover, JP Morgan prioritizes employee well-being, actively endorsing a healthy work-life balance. An important aspect of this is the expectation that everyone works their allocated hours without pressure to exceed them. Furthermore, the flexibility in start and end times adds to the overall positive work environment
Your Impressions
I thoroughly enjoyed my placement/internship at JP Morgan. It has been a transformative experience, both personally and professionally. The journey has not only contributed to my growth but has also left me with cherished memories that have had a lasting impact on my personal development.
