Overview
I worked closely with my team when conducting the audit. My location during was mostly split at the client site and at the main office. I was given specific tasks to complete and was given responsibility to audit the operating expenses and payroll and salaries of the company we were working on.
Skills
I have learnt how a proper audit is carried out. During my placement I have developed my communication and listening skills as well as my IT skills. I have also learnt how to manage my time during work to complete tasks effectively and efficiently.
Responsibilities
I feel I was given a good amount of responsibility and felt really valued to the team even though my placement only lasted one month. I was given meaningful tasks straight away and it helped me become settle into my placement very quickly. I felt the work I was doing added good value to the team and to the audit.
Support & Guidance
My team gave me great support throughout my placement and were always helpful with any questions or queries I had. They understood I was new to work so they explained clearly and concisely what tasks I should complete and how to complete them. They also explained what benefit me completing the tasks will bring which further helped me understand quickly the targets I should aim to hit.
Culture
I enjoyed my time at the office the most as everyone made me feel welcome. Even the colleagues who I was not working closely with on an audit made me feel welcome at the company which made the overall atmosphere at work more enjoyable.
Your Impressions
I really enjoyed my internship as it gave me a taste of what work life will be like. It also gave me a much better understanding of the company. I also got to experience first hand how an audit is carried out. I would recommend this internship strongly for candidates wanting to learn more about PwC and how audits are carried out in practice.
