    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • Working in a team to complete an audit for a particular client. This would involve testing of areas of the financial statements. Requesting listings from clients and selecting samples from here to test supporting evidence. Meetings with clients, and team to discuss progress. Travel to client site for in-person discussion with client for audit queries.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • I was given a lot of responsibility on placement. My abilities were constantly pushed however I was supporter were required when given new tasks/larger work loads. I was given responsibility to have one-on-one meetings with the client when necessary.

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • I was given plenty of support and guidance, but I had to ensure I spoke up when I needed it. However, I was encouraged to do this and also communicated often with my team(s) about the status of my work so they could offer support if they thought necessary.

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • Very sociable atmosphere, in general found everyone I worker with positive and easy to speak to. More a culture of work hard, play hard - big focus on team effort to get things over the line.

  • I really enjoyed my placement. It was very challenging so there were times I struggled, but I enjoyed being pushed and have lots of great memories with friends made on placement

  • 8. What advice would you give to others applying to PwC
  • Research lines of service/exam requirements to understand what route you’d really like to take. Don’t worry too much about prior experience/degree background as PwC is very open to a range of backgrounds and degree doesn’t have to be directly applicable to the job. Plenty of support is provided for this.
