    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • I was working on a team, assisting them in their tasks and completing certain tasks on my own. For example, desktop reviews and testing of suppliers. I had the opportunity to receive training from different members and ask questions when I needed to.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • I was able to develop my team work skills and communication skills during this internship, frequently speaking in meetings with senior members of the team to update them on my progress. I learnt new IT skills to be able to complete tasks much more effectively and efficiently. I gained a much deeper understanding of the audit process and the role of accountancy firms.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • I was tasked with important tasks on the audit job, handling important client information and communicating with the client frequently to gather more information and explanations for it. I was also tasked with an intern project, working with a social enterprise and attempting to deliver a presentation that would help them improve their social media use to attract new clients.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • I communicated with many people in the office and asked them for advice on the job and also learn about their experience both at the firm and in their exam preparation. On my team, I spoke with all members, but was specifically paired with one of the members, who allocated me my tasks and gave me training on how to complete them. I was able to ask this member questions when I needed to

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • There was a very positive and supportive culture in the office. Everyone was keen to ensure that people felt comfortable with the work that they were set and no individual had an unfair workload in comparison to other members. Management were very visible and made a real effort to speak to members in the office and ensure everyone was happy with their workload and there were no issues within the office.

  • I absolutely loved my internship, I was excited to go into work everyday and complete the tasks set to me. The environment and culture within the office created this positive environment and led to better quality work. I would recommend this internship to others

  • Be yourself and be eager to learn. There are lots of opportunities to learn at PwC and if you have a willingness to learn, there will be lots of support.
