Overview
Not everyday is the same. I can attend patients to administer insulin. I can administer other medication. I can attend to category pressure ulcers and clean and dress them. I can change stoma bags, I change bilateral leg dressing. I prepare dressing for the following day.
Skills
I have learnt how to dress legs properly. I have learnt to give insulin. I have learnt how to make a sock of out dressing.
Responsibilities
At the moment I'm still training but I do assist patients under supervision.
Support & Guidance
This is still on-going but the support is very good. There is always a safety huddle to voice concerns.
Culture
Friendly and welcoming and felt part of a team.
Your Impressions
I enjoyed meeting new people, getting to understand their needs and learning different aspects of their care. Working alongside different MDT professionals and asking questions.
Yes
Have an open mind, don't be afraid as I didn't know anyone when I started and now I have a large number of friends. And if you are a mature student, don't think you will be the only one there. Enjoy your experience, it will go fast.
