Commercial analyst Review

I start by reviewing previous day sales and seeing what deals have been written and if deals have been left more than 4 weeks I chase AM. Receive Ad-Hoc tasks from sales and CSM which are completed and made into live documents. Refresh all live docs and attend a daily meeting with team to go over day tasks. Check ringfence to ensure all data is correct and any updates can be made. New project meeting twice a week.

I developed many skills during my placement year. I developed an analytical approach to Excel and learnt many new functions. Also, I developed my leadership and willingness to learn as the first few weeks were content heavy trying to understand new tasks I would be doing. Completed workshops on BA and began to host team meetings. Also developed the ability to remain level headed in stressful situations and take an overall view of situations as opposed to a small snapshot.

Yes I was given a lot of responsibilities such as approaching real world clients where we were discussing client rates as well as developing new products for different areas of the business that had not been previously looked into. Also completed a weekly data analysis that was sent to and reviewed by CFO and had to be correct. Also on a monthly meeting, I had to send data for the CEO to review and collected a monthly board pack for my managers which analyses all client relationships.

I was given a lot of support during my placement. First off, I had three weeks of learning to learn all new skills as well as develop current skills to be fit for my role. I also had to work closely with other teams during my first few months as I would be working with them on a daily basis so it was essential for him to assist and guide me so I understood what was required of me.

The environment within the company was positive with many social events and all faces are very friendly and easy to talk too. Good social areas within the office and also events outside of work hours that are paid for to encourage friendliness in the workplace. Also the star scheme recognises you for performing well.

My placement was very enjoyable I met some great people as well as making sure I learnt some new skills along the way. Also had the opportunity to travel over the UK to other offices which was enjoyable. I learnt how a workplace works as well as learning to work under pressure and to a schedule.

Be confident and be yourself as that is really important and enjoy yourself as you work best when you enjoy yourself. Never hide things or stresses as they don’t help you but in fact make you worse off so by talking you are helping yourself. Also ensure you are not procrastinating as this will only increase your stress later in the day but do take breaks to allow your mind to rest as this is crucial.
