Overview
On a day-to-day basis you will be contirbuting to campaigns or managing activities for Audi UK social channels, working closely with digital marketing and CX in ensuring Audi fans and customers are perceiving Audi in the best way. You could be implementing new ad copy for PPC, reporting on ad successes or identifying gaps, attending exciting shoots/events and learning from and working with Audi's agencies.
Skills
Working at Audi has allowed me to develop a plethora of skills including; Connected search, corporate identity, managing campaigns, presenting, marketing (duh!), social media, event management, asset management, collaboration, analytical thinking, attention to detail and general automotive industrial awareness.
Responsibilities
From the get go I was given a lot of responsibility during my placement, with colleagues ensuring I wasn't 'just an intern'. Within my first couple of months I was responsible for the asset management and distribution for a new model launch and subsequently managed elements of campaigns and was comfortable covering colleagues whilst on holiday.
Support & Guidance
The support and guidance I received from my team, especially my line manager, was second to none. My team always ensured I was comfortable with tasks and took their time to help me with any questions. Volkswagen Group as a whole lacked in some elements of support with the adjustment to work life and it would have been beneficial to receieve some more in person training sessions.
Culture
The company culture and general atmosphere was often very positive. I can't speak for the other brands, but Audi felt collaborative and carried a sense of 'excitement' with every talk or brand lunch (despite a relatively dull office... which is being refurbished!).
Your Impressions
I thoroughly enjoyed my placement and would recommend it to anyone wanting to gain experience in marketing. I was provided with opportunities and experiences that are unforgettable and it was a very difficult day when the time came to leave!
Yes
Ensure you research the core principles and values as this is a key focus to the company. Be aware that applying to Volkswagen Group is an application to be considered to various roles in all brands/sectors (Audi, Skoda, VW, Cupra etc.). Don't pester HR or others about which car you will be getting (they try to align all undergrads).
