The Role
The placement is hard but if you are determined and strong minded with a will to succeed, then it worth testing yourself.
Throughout the placement you meet lots of people some you instantly get along with and others you have to work harder to do so. Its the same in any organisation and this a test of your management skills.
Regular appraisals are given througout the placement to monitor your learning and performance. Guidance and constructive criticism is given to help improve yourself and the running of the store.
Generally you are or should be always busy the business pays you well but time and effort is required in return.
A lot of responsbility and it can be quite dawnting when you first start out, but if mistakes are made then its a case of getting on with the job and learn where you went wrong for next time.
I have learnt a lot about just how ruthless the business world is, maintaining a successful operation aswell as adapting to change with an eye on price and quality is the key to a successful business.
The Company
The atmosphere within any office can be dictated by the management, i found that the management styles affeted motivation and performance of staff. The atmosphere varied within all stores i visited but most staff are friendly and there to help.
The internship is well organised and structured to improve your learning and develop you as a person.
The company invested a lot into your training and it is their intention to encourage you to go further within the business. The placement should not be taken lightly and a half hearted approach will not be sufficient, but the rewards and sense of self achievement is definatly worth it.
Company Car
The opportunity to make such a massive leap within a company at such a young age is exciting and one in which anyone with aspirations would like to recieve.
The Culture
The placement does not give you much chance to stay in contact with other placement students, however it is possible to contact them if and when required.
The hours can be long and hard however if you are willing to put them in socialising can be done around this.
I lived at home throughout the placement and partying is not top of my mind when doing the job as it can be demanding but rewarding.
There was an opportunity to go on the christmas party and is worthwhile.
