The Role
I felt really welcomed and I had the opportunity to learn a lot during my placement. Very good experience and very good athmosphere.
I really felt I was part of the team and I people trusted my work, I was considered as a normal employee.
My supervisor and the rest of the team have always helped me when I needed, they allowed me to improve my working skills and presentation skills as well.
I always had work to do, when I had too much I told my supervisor and I just delayed some of my work. When I was not busy enough, I could just ask someone in the team if there was something I could do.
After a few months in the company, I was independent at work, and with quite a high level of responsibility in terms of chemistry, safety.
This placement is the work I want to do later, so I choosed to keep on studiing in the same field of studies:chemistry. next year I will study for a masters diploma in chemistry and then try to do a PhD.
The Company
The athmosphere was quite good, not too much pressure, and everyone was friendly to the placement students.
very good organisation, as we are 100 placement students, people are used to have students in the labs and everything is made so that we can learn and work well.
I had all the software, lab technologies available for me, so I think it's quite a good invest. There was no special trainings, but I was allowed to go to meeting about chemistry and that taught me a lot.
Financial Bonus
Company Parties/Events
Above 25 days holiday
There are a lot of opportunities for students to keep on working in the company, and it seems very interesting. Someone who really wants to stay in the company can apply to a lot of different programms.
The Culture
Being with a lot of placement students was very good for partiing, talking english (I'm french), making friends...
Stevenage is not far from london, but it's quite cheap, I didn't pay a very expensive rent as I was sharing my flat with 3 other persons.
In stevenage it was not great, but you can easily go down to London where there are loads of clubs for everyone, every kind of music...
Not a lot of activities out of work, except if you go down to London. Stevenage is quite small, so after a few months, you get bored.
