Overview
Placed within teams, we worked on completing a range of tasks similar to that of a trainee but on a smaller scale. It could be anything from research tasks to completing forms.
Skills
You learn a lot of new legal skills from completing the daily tasks. I gained a much better understanding of different legal procedures. You also get the chance to develop many existing, broader skills such as communication, legal writing and adaptability.
Business Insight
We gained a deep understanding on the many different aspects of the business and how they work together in day-to-day life. It was not just focused solely on the life of a trainee but instead gave us interactions with partners, seniors, paralegals and reception staff. All of whom were vital in the running of the business.
Culture
Everyone was extremely welcoming and helpful when it came to answering questions we had. The teams worked hard in involving us in different social events or experiences to make sure we enjoyed our experience. It really felt like we were one of the team rather than just sitting on the sidelines.
Your Impressions
It was one for he most enjoyable experiences. The work-life culture was great, we got a chance to interact with people in and out of the office which definitely helped. Meeting other students from different offices gave us a much broader understanding of the culture and made it more enjoyable!
Yes
Be yourself! It seemed scary to me initially when applying but everyone there was so nice and down to earth which was great. You don't need to have legal experience either, anything which you can relate back to the job is perfect, whether that be society work or part-time... Enjoy the application process and the chance to network through it, you'll definitely learn a lot along the way.
