The Role
Had an absolutely fantastic year, I don't think I could have had a better placement anywhere!
My colleagues have all known each other for many years, and as such I have been made to feel like part of the team from the word go. People have gone out of their way to offer me help, and I know my work was valued by all of the colleagues in my team.
If I had asked for support and guidance my manager was more than happy to help.
There were some periods where the workload was light, and other times when I waqs very busy. I was given additional tasks to make sure I had a constant workooad and continuous projects throughout the year.
I was given a lot of responsibility and had to manage all of the process I was involved in, there was a senior member of staff at all times who was aware of the projects i was managing and could offer me help and assistance.
Any training I recieved tended to be job specific and is therefore not really relevant to my studies. However general training like excel skills i will use in the future. I also found this placement excellent for honing skills I already posessed such as organisation and time management
The Company
My office had a very unique atmosphere, and here was always lots of joking and fun to be had, however when people had lots of work or were really busy then that was respected
I was given lots of opportunities, perhaps more than most undergraduates to visit different areas of the business out of head office, such as the warehouse and production. My manager encouraged me me to take up as many opportunities as possible.

The graduate programme at Vauxhall is very small because of the large placement scheme, however I have been told by my managers they would be very keen to offer me a job on graduation.
The Culture
With over 100 undergraduates employed there is always something going on, with trips, nights out and events always being planned. I have made some fantastic friends this year.
Lut on is a very cheap area to live in even though it is so close to london. This was an ideal combination as it only costs £10 for a day travelcard to london yet you benefit from the cheap livign costs.
The nightlife in Luton itself isnt the best, however the undergrads used to travel to various places on a regular basis for nights out.
My office were fairly sociable and always organised out of the office activities, along with activities organised on a regular basis by fellow undergrads
