Overview
I was analysing the accounts for the Greater Manchester ICB corporate finance team. This included month end accruals, budget movements and forecasting. I had a line manager who I directly reported to and they would give me my day to day tasks. In new financial year, I supported with the year end accounts with my team and completed an agreement of balances project.
Skills
I learnt how to complete accurate and timely month end reports using real life financial data. I gained experience with administrative skills such as regular team meeting, comprehensive internal communications such as Microsoft outlook and Teams.
Responsibilities
I given an appropriate amount of responsibilty for my role and it progressively grew over time as learnt more. I was given my own task list of accounts to monitor monthly and contributed to overall efficiency of my team.
Support & Guidance
I has regular professional development meetings with my line manager to discuss my progress in the role and had the opportunity to ask questions. I was encouraged the entire time to ask questions or for help whenever I needed.
Culture
The NHS has a wonderful company culture that really prioritises the wellbeing of its staff. There is additional wellbeing leave available and we were regularly encouraged to take our annual leave. The people who work there are really committed to making it a pleasant place to be
Your Impressions
