Overview
Filled in and completed time sheets. Scanned client information. Sent reminders for information to client. Prepared tax returns and sent to managers. Made amendments to returns and correspondence with client for approval after manager review. Submitted returns to HMRC. Billed and created invoices. General admin work such as updating client details, scanning and printing.
Skills
Teamwork and communication skills- working in a team to get returns to clients as quick and efficiently as possible and communicating the process of tax returns to managers to streamline the review process. Adaptability, time management/ prioritisation- adapted to learn and implement new software and apply tax law and regulation to the tax return process, prioritised tasks in order of most urgent and complex to ensure deadlines were met and clients did face HMRC penalties.
Responsibilities
I think I was given appropriate responsibility based on the knowlege and experience I had. Responsability increased as I learnt more about my job and the role and gained experience. I wish I was given the opportunity for more client based work and to have been involved in shadowing client projects.
Support & Guidance
The team was very friendly and welcoming. There was a buddy system in place and I did my training with other placement students and new graduates, so it was nice to train with people who had similar experiences and were also new.
Culture
It was good.
