    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • I spent a week in the London office as part of my induction and then two weeks in the Edinburgh office in practice groups. I interned in the Corporate practice area and the Finance, Projects, and Restructuring practice area. Daily tasks included communications work, attending/minuting meetings, legal research, drafting legal documents and client emails. I was definitely given a high sense of responsibility and had the opportunity to learn and develop from experienced lawyers around me.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • Definitely. I developed my commercial awareness from all the communications work I carried out, my attention to detail improved as I focussed on every aspect of attended meetings, research skills improved drastically as this was imbedded into every task alongside my drafting and redrafting skills.

Whether it was through kind words, constructive feedback, or practical assistance, the support of others was instrumental in my personal and professional development and in receiving a training contract offer.
