The Role
Nice people, good atmosphere, Luton's not the best though.
Quite a lot of responsibility, a lot of work I was responsible for and several people dependant on my reporting.
Management helped when they could, but a lot of reliance was put on a successful handover period. After the handover period, there were some activities that people did not know much about to help.
Work load fluctuated considerably depending on times of the month.
A lot of responsibility was placed on me, with some of my reporting going out to senior management and even directors of departments.
Picked up several handy skills which will help me with my future career, though clearly this was just a solid foundation to build upon (more advanced techniques/skills) in my career.
The Company
A lot of banter, light hearted people, good atmosphere and everyone was very friendly.
Good structure to the placement, though training at the start was very basic and not very helpful.
As an undergraduate, its hard to expect any kind of investment in your abilities. I was not able to apply for any tests/exams to enhance my CV.
Sports and Social Club
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
Not many people get to continue into a graduate role in the finance department.
The Culture
One of the best things about the placement was there were so many other undergraduates. Made for a lot of good banter and get to meet a lot of different people.
Cheap rent and nights out.
Luton liquid is terrible.
GM does a lot of charity work, including bikerides, bake sales etc.
