The Role
A slow start as there was no specific role for me when I began. I was able to create a role as the year went on, which I will now be handing over to my replacement
My team always appreciated the work I did.
I was given support and guidance whenever requested. However, I was not micro managed - I was left to get on with the tasks by myself, which I preferred.
Again slow to start, but then rapidly picked up.
I was given the chance to implement major projects as well assolely representing my team on department calls on a daily basis
Not so much in my university course. But the experience will help me no end in my professional career.
The Company
Close group of interns with all the other staff were also very friendly.
As mentioned above the fact there was no set role at the start made things difficult.
IBM was always willing to pay for me to go on educational days. As well as getting involved in number 'give back' opportunities such as university teams and work experience days,
Flexi Time
Company Parties/Events
Working from home
Being such a large company, there are plenty of different career paths that are interchangeable if you find yourself doing something you do not like.
The Culture
Good at the start, but died off. A group of us including my house mates who were also on the placement went out regularly.
Its London, its very expensive. Especially compared with the north.
Always had a great time. The Fez club is the stuff of legends.
As mentioned above they always encouraged you to get involved with extra activities. The best part of the job in my opinion.
