Overview
Completion of mainly excel based audit workpapers in line with the Mazars audit methodology across a wide variety of financial statement areas on the income statement and balance sheet. Focus on high quality audit testing to support audit opinions. Review of draft accounts in preparation for client use. Attend Internal and External meetings to support audit progress. Mixed working locations between company office, client site (Day/Week Long) and home working
Skills
Main skills developed include Teamworking - Audit is completed by an internal team you work directly with but also an external client team. Communication - Audit requires wide variety of communication types with individuals of varying levels of seniority both internally & externally. Professional Scepticism - A fundamental Audit Principal to think critically and carefully evaluate all areas of information before using it to support audit judgements and perform audit procedures. This skill is emphasised heavily by accountancy bodies.
Responsibilities
Yes I was given high levels of responsibility starting early on in my placement. I worked on 10 Audits and was individually responsible for delivering completed audit work across multiple financial statement areas on each audit. Responsibility involved regular interaction with Audit Partner & Senior Client Staff including CFOs, Finance VPs & Finance Heads. Largest responsibility was for auditing revenue amounts of £220M
Support & Guidance
High level of support and guidance was provided through Training, Central Development team, Early Careers Team, Mentoring, Buddy, People manger, Line manager & other ad-hoc support and guidance.
Culture
A good cohesive team atmosphere aligned with goals and purposes pushing individuals to be high performers and providing genuine guidance & support at all time.
