Overview
Working closely with the team you are placed in on their owned products or on a project you are given to tackle over the 12 weeks. Constantly engaging with people across the company, organising meetings and gathering as much knowledge as possible so you are as informed as possible to tackle your project. I worked on a project to speed up quant researcher's workflows by predicting resource requirements required for their jobs, instead of having them calculate or guess it.
Skills
Learned how to navigate the corporate world, co-operate with the team to achieve goals, and use skills learned in my course for real-world applications. Also learned the value of access to an internal network of professionals who were ready and willing to help you through in-house applications and enhancing your project's chance for success.
Responsibilities
Yes - given full responsibility over the project we were tackling, including which methods and technologies to use, while also having guidance when we needed it.
Support & Guidance
As much as was needed; my team were always willing to help.
Culture
Atmosphere was great; had lots of interns I could speak to, not many young people in the company in general but lots of nice FTEs. Company drinks every month, plus special events as well.
Your Impressions
Really enjoyed it and learned a lot more during this internship than I have during my uni course.
Yes
Be personable and humble
