Overview
The scheme offered a chance to learn more about the role of a trainee at Linklaters and about the different departments and the firm's strategic goals. On a day-to-day basis there were presentations, socials, work on the scheme projects, and work for your principal depending on what they were able to give you.
Skills
I have developed my ability to manage my time and prioritise tasks when having to work under time pressure. The scheme also offered he opportunity to practice working as a part of a team, and the tasks generally required researching and analysing information to produce a cogent final product.
Business Insight
It was fantastic to hear about the various departments - both in presentations and in speaking to people in other departments at the firm - as this provided me with a better understanding of the work that the firm does. This also gave me a better understanding of the kind of work that a commercial lawyer can do at Linklaters and I was impressed by the variation available.
Culture
In the department I sat in and across the firm everyone was friendly and keen to answer my questions and help guide me. People at Linklaters work in a collegiate way which trickles down into how they interact with one another resulting in a positive work atmosphere.
Your Impressions
I really enjoyed getting to know more about Linklaters and the kind of tasks that a trainee does at Linklaters. It was a great experience to meet people from the various departments and the socials were good fun.
