Overview
It involves taking ownership of candidate communications replying to any queries, screening CVs, conducting interviews and headhunting for potential talent on LinkedIn. All whilst ensuring a positive candidate experience. I work as part of a close knit team to provide the best results for the clients. I have also been able to get involved with the creation of weekly data reports of the recruitment process to keep the clients updated. You also have the opportunity to set wider goals to help your overall development based on your interests, allowing you to really get integrated into the culture of Wiser. This has included me creating a regular newsletter surrounding a topic of my choice for my wider team as well as getting involved in Black History Month initiatives amongst others.
Skills
I have developed a wide range of my skills including my communication and interpersonal skills, including public speaking, and have been pushed out of my comfort zone helping me learn. I have been entrusted with interviews from an early stage, as well as having the opportunity to take an active role in team meetings and having the opportunity to work on client sites. I am now a lot better at dealing with a wider range of people. I have been pushed to take ownership and back myself, which is definitely an aspect that has been more difficult for me but I am continually supported to continue improving. As well as being taught a completely new skill of using excel through the creation of data reports, this has allowed me to expand my transferable skills further and become more well rounded.
Responsibilities
I have been given a lot of responsibility from an early stage which has really pushed my out of my comfort zone. You are seen as a valuable team member and entrusted with your tasks like any other employee. It is a high performance environment, you are expected to work hard and continually look to improve and continue learning, so you need to be prepared for this and willing to put in the work.
Support & Guidance
I have received a really positive amount of support and guidance especially at the start, whilst I was being introduced to my role. The team is really welcoming and just overall positive and supportive, everyone is there to encourage you and I have been able to be 100% myself at work, allowing me to reach out for help when needed. My manager is really understanding and willing to help me continue to develop, I have been able to be vulnerable and ask for support. The team notice if you are struggling and people will look out for you and how you can be supported.
Culture
The company culture is really unique, it is definitely a fast pace and hard working environment, where you are surrounded by high performers, which definitely can be intimidating at times. But overall it is also a place where you are valued and supported, and also encouraged to Be Real at all times. There are opportunities for continual development and you are continually pushed to be the best you can be. The social aspect of the company is also really positive, there are team socials as well as company wide socials. From Rounders and Sports day, Secret Santa, bake-offs, Diversity and Inclusion related initiatives, pub nights, a great Christmas party etc. There is something for everyone.
Your Impressions
I have really enjoyed my placement so far, it has definitely been hard work and has pushed me out of my comfort zone but the team has been great. I feel so welcomed and have been able to get integrated into the team. The opportunity to work on client sites has been really enriching and has taught me a lot, whilst also having been given a range of opportunities/responsibilities which has allowed me to learn more about myself and what I want from my career. I have really enjoyed the culture and the social aspects as well, it is again really unique and overall it definitely does seem that the company cares about you.
