Overview
Daily Standups following Agile Software Development. Physical Testing in Rigs and Software Development in C++.
Skills
Learnt principles of Agile Software Development and Model Based Engineering. Received training for C++ and other Software Development principles.
Responsibilities
Little work given initially, have to repeatedly ask for additional work/ projects to be put on.
Support & Guidance
People are very friendly and willing to help. This has been instrumental to helping me understand difficult concepts that I was unfamiliar with at university.
Culture
Employees are very friendly and approachable which makes talking with others outside your circle easy. However, the company does not have any formal networking events or team building exercises available for placement students that I have learnt is commonplace in other defense companies.
Your Impressions
Lockheed Martin has given me the opportunity to explore different interests and career paths. The placement is very flexible and the people I worked with are very approachable and friendly. However, the placement lacks formal structure meaning it can be easy to feel left out of the company culture and events.
Yes
The placement is what you make of it. Make sure to spend time meeting others around the company and joining the volunteering opportunities. Take on additional projects and responsibility.
