Overview
I was an intern in the high frequency trading team. I was given tabular data of finance data and had to create Machine Learning models to create a trading strategy by detecting signal in the data.
Skills
I have developed skills in coding (python), and training ML models. I have used a lot of tabular data and have developed deeper knowledge of the corresponding python modules. I have moreover acquired knowledge in finance and especially on quantitative hedge funds.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities are hard to define in a research environment. However I was given a lot of freedom in my research, and how I wanted to tackle the problem which is a very positive characteristic of this internship that I greatly appreciated.
Support & Guidance
The internship was very well supervised. Each intern had a mentor who greatly supervised and had a lot of time to discuss the project. The supervisor did let me free in my research while helpig me a lot and putting me in contact with the good person in the company.
Culture
The athmosphere was very warm and welcoming. There is barista inside the company where I could have a coffee while discussing with people from my branch or other branches. There was a lot of supervisoon from HR who regularly gave snacks. The projects given to the intern were very interesting.
Your Impressions
I really enjoyed the internship. First, it was a great opportunity to discover London as an international student as the work-life balance was very healthy. Moreover, inside the company, both the fact that the project were interesting and that the athmosphere was great made me really enjoy my time in this company as an intern.
Yes
The interviews can be numerous and tough so be prepared to them. Apart from passing the interviews I don't think there is any requirement or advice I could give since the company welcome new interns extremely well.
