The Role
The job was enjoyable in most parts, especially getting the opportunity to travel both in the UK and abroad. I also spent a great deal of time communicating with suppliers, who treated me like a full time employee, not just a placement student.
I was made to feel very welcome by everyone within the department, not just my select team that I worked with. We communicated regularly about work, football, news and it is just a friendly place to work.
There were a number of systems that I had to use for my work and some of these were quite complicated and took some time to learn properly. My managers were able to support every time I had problems, and if they couldn't help me themselves, then would provide the needed contact details so that I could get help.
When I first started, my role had only just been created, so for the first few months, there was times when I was quite bored. However as my role has developed and expanded, I have become busy enough on a daily basis without being too stressed.
I was given a good amount of responsibility especially when dealing with suppliers. My managers and team would check my work from time to time, but mostly I was trusted to complete my work effectively.
The skills that I have learned will no doubt help me in terms of organization, and producing a higher quality of work in my degree. Thins like my prioritization and time management will also be much improved. However, my job doesn't explore 100% of the areas of my degree, so I may not be able to use the skills I have gained from work in this way.
The Company
Everyone in the office gots on really well, and there is always a jovial atmosphere in the air. There is always banter flying around and it's a fun place to work.
The overall placement scheme at vauxhall is run very smoothly, and there are always schedules of what is happening. For such a large volume of students it is very well run.
I have been trained in systems that are used worldwide in the purchasing industry. There are lots of chances to do training and my skills within purchasing have been enhanced no end.

There is no real Post graduate scheme, but it is a case of if there are any vacancies, then your placement scheme would put you to the top of the list, assuming you had done well.
The Culture
There are over 100 undergrads, so it is a great chance to meet you people. There are social events on a weekly basis so the social aspect is excellent.
The pubs and club is pretty cheap, and there are quite a few cheap food places.
Only 1 nightclub in Luton, however it is quite close to Watford and London so it is definitely possible to go out there.
Playing football going to the gym, Became student ambassadors, the company will encourage you to get involved in a range of events.
