The Role
A good level of work where you get given daily and weekly tasks, but enough time is given if you wish to get stuck into other projects.
At first like any other job you are the new kid on the block, but everyone understands this. As your confidence builds you become valued more and more as an integral part of the team by the end of the 12 months you’re irreplaceable!!!!!!
They are always available with their door always open to questions. They are not there to hinder your learning but there to enhance it. They want you to do the job to the best of your ability. There is also the added advantage of a two week handover for the current undergrad in your role to teach you your new role as well as a hand over guide which will be your bible for the year.
Your own job function will keep you reasonably busy but if you are proactive and keen you work load can soon double in the fraction of a second. The key is to take your time and learn the ropes before going about asking for more work and responsibility.
You are not here at Vauxhall to make the teas and do the photo copying; you have a job role to complete. My time at Vauxhall has given me responsibilities from running campaigns and the internal messenger system for technical bulletins to the retailer network.
Fantastic life skills to draw upon such as working within a business environment, working under pressure, presentations to complete and provide you with a structure 9 -5 lifestyle to take back to university for your final year.
The Company
Fun, friendly, professioal but with a touch of banter
You are given your own role and responsibilities come with that. If you want to take more form the placement you have to strive and show your initiative. Nothing is spoon fed to you.
There was very little of this. A small amount of excel training and half a day’s presentation training
It is very unlikely that a Role will come about from Vauxhall Motors. You are here for the years but Vauxhall to have a reference is fantastic to have.
The Culture
There are 100+ Undergrads of the same age and have the same interests........ 2 week hand over is like Fresher’s week
You get paid so you don’t need to go into your overdraft to live throughout the year
Liquid is the main club in Luton ...... so not amazing!!!!!!
