Overview
It was a 3 day programme with 2 days being online and one in person. Each day consisted of introductions to various divisions and areas of asset management. The entire event was very interactive wth time for questions and well as a team activity at the end of each day.
Skills
I learned a sizable amount more about the management of securities like equities, fixed income, alternatives and more. In particular, I developed skills in being able to quickly identify key financial information and put together investment advice and presentations.
Business Insight
It was great to hear about roles and areas of the business. I would say that there was not as many employees at the networking event as I had anticipated. Nevertheless, I got to speak to employees from across divisions which gave me a great insight into what I might enjoy for a potential internship or grad role.
Culture
Fidelity International has a great open and non-hierarchical company culture which was felt though everyone I met. Questions were highly encouraged and it was emphasised that there were 'no stupid questions' and that it was a safe, learning environment. Both the in person and online days were relaxed and open. It was very clear that Fidelity cares greatly about employees wellbeing, work-life balance and personal/professional development.
Your Impressions
The event was a great opportunity to get to know the investment management industry and finance in general. Overall, it was a fantastic event and it was great that we had ample time to get to know other participants.
Yes
