Overview
Supporting Cummins' EMEA Emissions Compliance Programmes which has involved logistics and communications with OEMs and end users. I often need to place orders for engines and aftertreatments and organise their transport to our repower facilities in Europe. Most of my consistent work involves various projects that have filled gaps in our processes or promoted our programmes to potential participants, such as creating a web page for the external Cummins website and survey distribution.
Skills
I have learnt to use multiple new software such as Microsoft Power BI, Adobe illustrator, Adobe photoshop, and developed my skills in Microsoft Excel through daily use and QA courses. I have also been introduced to project management where I've put these software skills to practice, and worked with people within different departments of Cummins who I may not have interacted with otherwise. Therefore, hybrid communication has became a new found skill to me also.
Responsibilities
I have been given tasks with larger responsibility than I'd thought on a a placement, but felt at ease when carrying them out as I started out with a lot of guidance. I have also felt a sense of responsibility through my projects which have given value to the company and myself.
Support & Guidance
I have been given so much support during my placement from my manager, mentor, the New Starter Programme, and those in HR who have organised events with all of the placement students at Cummins. I have always felt at ease doing my job as I know I can always ask questions if I'm unsure, as well as having a community of new starts and placement students to relate with during my year at Cummins.
Culture
Although I have been hybrid working at Cummins alongside my colleagues, I have still felt a part of a great culture and atmosphere. I've found it really helpful to go into the office a few times a week and everyone in my team has been so welcoming and great to hang out with in and outside of the working atmosphere.
Your Impressions
I've really enjoyed my placement with Cummins and I'll be sad to leave.
Yes
I would suggest to look at all of the roles available and really think about what skills and knowledge they're looking for and how that aligns to you.
