Overview
My role at Cummins Turbo Technologies has enlightened me to the diverse field of engineering. I have been involved with numerous projects that have challenged me in very different ways. From the complexity of completing dimensional variational analysis of product assemblies, to overseeing customer prototype testing and data validation. Presenting technical information to large teams of people over zoom or in-person has become a natural part of my day as well communicating with various departments throughout the company.
Skills
-Communication skills by working in a multidisciplinary team -MS Office skills (Excel & PowerPoint etc) -MATLAB (not a requirement, but would definitely helps to improve efficiency of data validation) -Time management through effective organisation of my day-to-day calendar by balancing meetings and project work -Engineering failure mechanisms such as High and Low-cycle fatigue, creep, thermal expansion -Better understanding of a diesel engine system including turbocharger and aftertreatment processes -Better understanding of the processes of measuring telemetry data during product testing
Responsibilities
Yes absolutely, across the 3 departments that I was involved in, I was the lead of several projects that I managed myself, including the oversight of customer prototype testing which saw over 30 turbochargers be produced, tested and shipped where I led the data analysis of each turbocharger before units were shipped to customer, presenting the finding the wider project team. Other projects included manufacturing process validation, improved test cell capability studies, planet 2050 initiations, continuous improvement of processes throughout the engineering and operational departments.
Support & Guidance
I was pleasantly surprised by Cummins' efficient and supportive enrolment process. The team provided me with clarity and eased any uncertainty I had about what my 12 months would be like. Contrary to my initial assumptions, working at Cummins has been far from overwhelming. The team is incredibly supportive. It wasn't long before participating in important meetings, both in person and virtually felt natural. Cummins welcomes individuals with diverse skills and backgrounds, emphasizing learning and collaboration over expertise.
