    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • Managing improvement projects for environmental factors on site. This includes tracking current goals UKLC has to reach planet 2030 and 2050. To help maintain this progress the creation and tracking of action plans set to teams around site. Another part of the role included health and and safety incident investigation whenever there has been an incident on site. Also work on producing newsletter for site monthly

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • time management has been a great skill developed during my placement, as well as this communication skill have been improved since working with large groups of individuals on site. Skills using applications such as excel have improved and been developed as Cummins send all students out to online training courses for all necessary skills

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • Yes to lead incident investigations and report all environmental data for site there was a large amount of responsibility to produce the correct information. This information is used in site data recording of health and safety and environmental goals

  • once asked for i received mentors in parts of work i wanted to focus on and improve within this included all environmental work as i was interested in becoming more involved in environmental management

  • Good working atmosphere with lots of friendly people willing to help and make life easier settling into the roles

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • I did enjoy the majority of my placement at Cummins. Only issues i ever encountered was feeling like i was not being utilized to the best of my ability however once these issues were highlighted to the right people it changed almost immediately. The teams that i have been able to work with have all presented a great opportunity for social and learning benefits.
