Overview
Helping keep the checking of the engines to a high standard. Providing reports, investigating issues, being part of large working groups. I help out in so many different things that it's difficult to describe what I do on a daily basis. I can create analytical tools or help with engines that need to be fixed. Design trackers and fill them in. I am trusted to always be doing work and there's always a lot for me to do.
Skills
Excel, Power BI, Generic Computer skills, Task management, Time Management, Investigatory Skills, Network Building. I've developed a lot in my confidence and people skills as you need both to do the job. I've developed my problem solving to a very high level as there are lots of different tasks/issues everyday and you need to try and get through them all
Responsibilities
Far more than expected. I was treated as an adult should be and trusted to take on challenges. There is a lot of work at Cummins to be done and people will ask for help with as much as they can to give you the best opportunities. I wasn't given too much responsibility as there are things that a placement student can't do, however I've been involved in anything that I physically can be.
Support & Guidance
I had a lot at the start with the previous placement extending his contract to teach me. Since he left there are plenty of people who I can talk to and ask advice from. You won't be guided step by step very often but people will offer help where they can. Most people are incredible helpful and understanding too.
Culture
Surprisingly pleasant. I expected it to be much more dull. But everybody gets on with each other and everyone on the whole is kind and polite. Makes you more motivated to do things for people as you know they would put a lot of effort back into you.
Your Impressions
Very much so. I came expecting to hate it but get paid. But now I'm thinking of coming back once I finish my degree to continue working here.
Yes
Very good company with lots of opportunities. Well worth looking into.
