Overview
My day to day role involves a lot of Data analysis with Microsoft Power BI, on a normal day, I would usually read machine data from the Block-line, collate this data and transfer this over to Power BI to clean the data and perform some analysis. I then use this analysis to make meaningful dashboard that could be used to communicated information to my line manager.
Skills
I have had to take various courses through my placement at Cummins like: Mastering Microsoft Power Apps 2023, Analyzing and visualizing Data with Microsoft Power BI, and Programmable Logic Control.
Responsibilities
I was given Loads of responsibility during my Placement, upon completing my courses, I transitioned to handling actual tasks that directly impacted the daily operations of the Blockline. Throughout this process, I received a lot of guidance and support to ensure successful execution of my responsibilities
Support & Guidance
At the beginning of my placement, I was assigned a few online courses to familiarize myself with the software essential for my role. Whenever I encountered challenges, numerous colleagues in my department were readily available to offer assistance. Their supportive and friendly manner made seeking help a positive experience each time.
Culture
The company culture was exceptional, it could be compared to that of a close-knit family environment, Cummins is quite big on safety over everything, so once you come in you will understand that the safety and well-being of employees are prioritized above all else and have never been compromised.
Your Impressions
I ensured that I fully utilized my placement experience, and one aspect I particularly appreciated at the Cummins Daventry plant was the flexibility in working hours, I had the opportunity to start work at 7am and leave at 3pm which I really enjoyed because I could spend a chunk of my day carrying out personal activities, this is a testament to the amazing work-life balance at Cummins.
Yes
Really showcase how your University and personal experience can help the company move forward, no one expects you to have years of experience before finishing University, but you need to show them that you can work well as a team and can work with others to achieve a common goal.
