Overview
An online experience from 1pm-5pm. This involved a hackathon using HackerRank. This had 6 questions of varying difficulty which each had a certain number of points available. This gave good practice for problem solving. The event also spoke a bit about amazon as a company and some employees roles.
Skills
I have improved my skills in Ruby and my general problem solving skills. It has also highlighted that I should expand my knowledge in Ruby or Python as my main programming knowledge is in Java.
Business Insight
It was quite interesting to learn about some of the key values of Amazon and what day-to-day life is like at Amazon. It made me excited to try and apply for the 2025 internship.
Culture
It seemed like an inclusive culture and atmosphere. It seems like a great place to innovate and excel. Amazon seems to focus on customer-centric design where opinions are valued.
Your Impressions
I really enjoyed this opportunity. I found it useful to highlight my stronger skills and my weaker skills. I feel like it has improved my general problem solving.
Yes
Look for other insight events like this one. Learn a language more similar to python than Java as Java can be very verbose which can make some of the challenges harder than needed.
