Overview
A hackathon involving 6 HackerRank challenges. This lasted a total of around 2 hours with an estimate of 140 participants. There was also advice on applying to Amazon internships, and a Q&A panel of software engineers working at Amazon.
Skills
I have gained problem solving skills, as well as critical thinking skills.
Business Insight
It was very insightful as the panelists gave a self introduction, career paths, previous experiences, and advice on applying. They also told us more about their backgrounds, such as their education and previous experiences.
Culture
It seemed great as the leadership principles were very inspiring and align with my values. The company seems to have a very open and innovative culture, as well as customer centricity. They also promote ownership and continuous learning. The general atmosphere appears friendly and welcoming.
Your Impressions
I really enjoyed it! I think this would be better if I could network with the other participants, instead of just joining a webinar, having known none of the other participants. The hackathon was a good length with an appropriate number of challenges. I also appreciated the panelists giving a lot of advice and guidance on our careers.
Yes
Do have a look around the website for their leadership principles and see how they align with yours. I recommend connecting with existing employees working at Amazon and ask them about their experiences.
