Overview
We were given insightful talks about the firms practice areas, the work they do, the quality of their work, and their culture. We then spent the next two days shadowing associates from different departments, such as banking, corporate, fin tech, litigation, and more.
Skills
Yes. I have developed my research skills, commercial awareness, understanding of the firm, and knowledge on technical issues.
Business Insight
Fascinating but also confidence building. It was an experience that (positively!) subverted my expectations. Everyone was super nice, seemed really interested in me, and helped me get the absolute most out of the experience.
Culture
Affirming and friendly. Many US law firms have a reputation for toxic work environments, competitive culture, and tireless hours, but Latham seems different. Yes it is hard work, but it’s in a supportive environment that makes the work seem so much better, and so much more enjoyable to do. Additionally, the company focus on being the best law firm in the world is really reflected through the talented employees.
Your Impressions
Very much, I had a great time, and am sad to leave! That being said, I’m grateful for what I experienced, and delighted to have such a great time.
Yes
Be interested in the culture, be interested in the work, and really understand what motivates you to want to work at Latham.
