Overview
The first day consisted of talks and workshops (on applications, diversity, and the various types of law which the firm specialises in), and the last two days I shadowed an associated. We also had numerous coffee chats with a variety of Latham individuals, and attended at F1 Arcade social with the other first year insight schemers.
Skills
New skills wise I was able to developed my understanding of what commercial law actually consisted of, and the various departments and practise areas which Latham offered. Through my research and drafting task I developed my skills of attention to detail and literacy. There was also many opportunities to build networking skills.
Business Insight
It broadened my perspective in what potential career options I have in commercial law, reminding me to keep an open mind but also affirming areas which are of particular to me.
Culture
Very friendly culture, everyone was willing to say hello, catch a coffee and offer advice. The open door policy created a warm environment, that did not feel overly hierarchical.

It was very enjoyable, both in terms of the social aspects with other first years on the programme, and in terms of the learning opportunities.
