    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
  • Gave great insight into IB business areas including M&A, ECM and DCM. In addition, we were given the opportunity to hear from and speak with Jefferies employees during networking events, as well as panel discussions. Interactive sessions were also a common occurrence, including an IPO simulation and group IPO task on the penultimate day, followed by a presentation in front of the rest of the cohort.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Most definitely have developed my understanding of the business areas within IB, as well as learning about the role of Jefferies in different financial transactions and how the culture in their office is. Being encouraged to network with Jefferies employees and ask questions during talks, as well as the group oresntstion have all contributed towards my confidence and built on my communication skills.

    Business Insight

  • 3. What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
  • Gave a great insight as I now have a much greater understanding of ECM and DCM, which I struggled to get a clear understanding of when researching before the Spring Internship. As a result I am much more open to working in these areas in the future.

    Culture

  • 4. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • Very positive culture which I expected beforehand, however experiencing it in person means that I can ensure it is true. All employees I spoke to were extremely open and honest, and gave very genuine advice as opposed to easy generic answers. It seems like the employees generate genuine connections with each other and clients, and hence the company culture thrives.
