The Role
I loved this Placement and also found it extremely rewarding. I am sure that, as I look for a permanent career in the industry, I will come to value its importance more and more.
I certainly feel that the team valued my input during the Placement, and regularly allowed me to attend meetings and team lunches where my contribution was even discussed!
Working within a small specialist team, I was given a great deal of support from day one of my Placement. Whilst I was given significant responsibility and also some challenging tasks, I was confident that, should I need assistance at any point, a member of the team would be more than happy to help.
At no point in my Placement was I left wondering what to do next - the team regularly provided me with work and also kept a regular check of my progress, and so were able to set me off on new tasks at just the right time.
At the start of the Placement, I was given close guidance in producing reports that would eventually be submitted to clients. Having done so successfully, the team had the confidence to allow me to complete reports from start to finish, thereby performing a significant role in the team.
The skills that I developed and utilized during the Placement can directly be applied to a future position in the property industry, given that during the 4 weeks I largely performed the role of a graduate permanently employed by the company.
The Company
The general atmosphere in the office is one of hard work, but at the same time one of enjoyment. I found that colleagues are clearly aware of the balance between having fun and getting there job done.
The Placement was very well organized. We were given regular talks from various departments to get a flavour of what else goes on in the company. We were also made clearly aware that, should we need any assistance at any point, the Recruitment team would be on hand to support us.
We were clearly made aware that, by selecting us for the Placement, the company was not just employing us to do a month's work, but were instead investing in us, beginning our training for the future.
I am very hopeful that the Placements I had had with the company can lead to a future career with them.
The Culture
I was regularly invited to team lunches and post-work team drinks, where I found them to be a very close-knit social group. Additionally, I regularly met up with fellow Placement students - it was great to meet them and hopefully will do so again in the future!
Being in London, the cost of living and socialising is pretty expensive - but worth it!
The nightlife in the area I work is very good, but also very expensive
I found there to be quite a few opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work.
