Overview
A phenomenal immersive experience where we were trained for 2-3 days about financial markets , did a trading simulation and then did tasks with our desk while shadowing other desks. We had a presentation related to our desk at the end.
Skills
Absolutely. I have learnt how to process large data on excel, create graphs, use Bloomberg as well as create technical client-oriented presentations. Also learnt how to trade through trading simulation.
Business Insight
Absolutely great- I managed to understand so many different facets of Nomura because we were encouraged to network as much as possible in the 2 weeks.
Culture
Incredibly warm and inviting while simultaneously structured and disciplined. Most banks seem intimidating and quite hostile but not Nomura - they struck a balance between pushing people to their highest potential while nurturing the important pastoral aspect of their work environment.
