Overview
During this role, I followed a graduate surveyor for a week accompanying him to fill out spreadsheets, relevant meetings, and research on relevant properties. I networked with many people and learnt so much about the career path
Skills
Yes, I think my technical skills have improved as my mentor showed me quite a lot. I also think I am now proficient in using tools such as CoStar, and improved analytical skills. I have developed social skills with all the socialising I have taken part in this week.
Responsibilities
I was given the responsibility to fill out some spreadsheets with data sourced from CoStar and other planning applications. I was also given the opportunity the find out the ownership of several properties.
Support & Guidance
A lot, which I am immensely grateful for. Everyone I asked was more than willing to help and super supportive. I couldn't have asked for more. My mentor was amazing and explained each task I had to do in detail and how to do it also.
Culture
Extremely friendly, positive. The atmosphere was different to other work environments I have been in before but in the best way
Your Impressions
I 100% enjoyed it, and would love to join the summer scheme next year. Was a lot of fun but highly educational and insightful and I genuinely think I have so much more knowledge now than what I came with
Yes
I would say be yourself, ask questions and research the company first.
