Overview
Every day was different, filled with presentations by different divisions, technical skills workshops, work shadowing and networking sessions. The best part was having the opportunity to listen to and learn from an all-women panel discussing their experiences at the firm alongside our group project that was due at the end of the week which involved pitching a hypothetical merger/acquisition.
Skills
I have further developed my fundamental technical analysis skills through the 3hour financial edge workshop as well as preparing for the group presentation. I have improved my communication and networking skills through not only the workshops but also the events hosted by Rothschild. I have learnt to be confident in my goals and successes.
Business Insight
It was fascinating learning about all the different business divisions. While I cams into the insight program with preconceptions about which division I wanted to enter, I was pleasantly surprised by how well some of the other roles aligned with my interest and skill set. We had speakers from all across the business including M&A advisory, debt advisory, equity advisory, private equity and wealth/asset management.
Culture
The atmosphere from before even joining, having been in touch with HR prior, was extremely caring and thoughtful. Rothschild being a family business which has cultivates a collegiate and friendly atmosphere really shone through during the 4 weeks. From being assigned an extremely helpful buddy at Rothschild to meeting more senior members and having the chance to ask all our questions emphasised the importance of curiosity, teamwork and support at Rothschild.
Your Impressions
I thoroughly enjoyed the insight program. I had the opportunity to meet and become friends with equally driven, passionate and unique women from all around Europe over the 4 days. I also gained a much deeper insight into the industry, even getting the chance to see some of the work people do on a daily basis through the work shadowing and getting to mimic the work required thorough the group presentation. As such, I learnt a lot and am very grateful for the incredible experience
Yes
I think the most important thing is to come in with passion for the industry and interests outside of work. Rothschild looks for well-rounded individuals with unique interests because it wants to hire talent that is innovative and forward-looking. Make sure to work on commercial awareness and keep up with the news in order to have insightful comments when applying.
