Overview
My day was a mix of graduate recruitment practice overview sessions, project work and work for my principal. There were lots of networking opportunities, coffee chats/lunches and two evening socials.
Skills
I have learnt how to work effectively in an office environment, communicating with others under pressure. I have developed my time management, organisation, confidence and analytical ability.
Business Insight
We received dedicated talks on training contract applications and interviews. I learnt about the firm’s different practice areas and overall structure, and the possible qualification options. There were discussions on the SQE, PGDL, secondments and training.
Culture
The culture was on the whole very diverse, welcoming and inclusive. The team which I was sat in was perhaps less diverse than my vacation scheme cohort but I had a very enthusiastic and supportive principal and trainee buddy.
Your Impressions
I highly enjoyed the insight. It was definitely stressful at times but I was able to meet so many incredible people and learn more about the firm. The two weeks were very productive - I never felt bored.
Yes
Make sure to research the firm in detail and practice for the Watson Glaser test. Try to attend campus events or firm open days to gain a better insight and evidence your interest in the vacation scheme/ training contract. Take active steps to expand your commercial awareness and knowledge of corporate transactions.
