Overview
I am in the working in the nuclear industry assigned on a project regarding a research facility. I am working alongside the Building architecture team to create deliverables using Revit and am involved in CDP activities alongside other graduates as a starting point towards my chartership.
Skills
I have become more proficient in Revit and am more confident when assigned any tasks regarding the latter. It is a software that I use a lot in university. I have experience presenting to the client and being more articulated while professionally using visual aid to present my research.
Responsibilities
Yes. I have been made a member of the corporate social responsibility committee during my first month to overlook CSR applications from employees in the whole of Europe. I have mentored other placement students and have talked to the client on a weekly basis.
Support & Guidance
My line manager has always assisted whenever I needed help and other engineers in the office have always answered my queries regarding technical questions. I have also had the opportunity to get involve with training to develop my CDP through weekly webinars and discussions alongside graduates and other civil engineers.
Culture
It was very communal and healthy. I have felt respected and heard. We do have a common area and higher ups in the office are very approachable so networking is a very natural thing here. We highly value well being and as such have weekly well being talks delivered online and we are always encouraged to come forward if we are having any issues. Inclusion and Diversity is also a value that the company hold dearly.
Your Impressions
While it can get quite overwhelming, I have enjoyed the trust and responsibility I have been assigned. I have developed both my technical and soft skills and feel valued in the company. There is always something to get involved in or initiative that you can put forward and the company supports you if there is any specific opportunity or training you want to get involved in.
Yes
Always be truthful in your answers and be yourself. There is a technical assessment during the interview so have a look at the basics principles and be prepared.
