Overview
We sat in one practice area. Each day consisted of completing a variety of tasks for our supervisors and preparing for a group presentation that was scheduled for the end of the week. We also attended a variety of insight sessions throughout the week and got the chance to network with a range of individuals from across the firm.
Skills
My legal knowledge has definitely improved. I also further refined and developed my time management skills as this was critical for meeting the deadlines that were set throughout the week. My communication, organisation and teamwork skills also improved. A skill I learnt on the scheme was understanding what my work capacity was, and how best to communicate this professionally to colleagues.
Business Insight
I felt like I gained a broad insight into Taylor Wessing's practice areas. The insight sessions were particularly useful for this. It was very useful to have a trainee buddy to understand the responsibilities of a trainee and better understand the type of work you would be completing on a Training Contract. Being immersed in a team was an excellent opportunity to gain an insight into the working culture of the firm.
Culture
The working culture was very positive. All team members seemed fulfilled and happy in their positions. Various team members commented on some of the perks the firm offers, such as the massages which are available. Trainees frequently commented on how well supported they felt during the Training Contract. I thoroughly enjoyed my time at the firm.
Your Impressions
I thoroughly enjoyed my Vacation Scheme. I thought it was interesting and intellectually stimulating. I enjoyed how varied it was and gaining a broad insight into the firm and working culture.
