Overview
I had a training partner who was a senior associate and responsible for giving me my daily tasks. She was very friendly, helpful, and made sure I felt comfortable with the team from the very start. I was able to work on a few ongoing matters that helped me get a sense of the work done within the Technology team.
Skills
I developed my legal skills, particularly on research and contract drafting further. I attended a few seminars on legal current affairs including AI. It was also a great way to get back into an office setting and go about speaking to people, as coffee chats were a regular part of the vac scheme.
Business Insight
It was a great insight into how the teams are organised and the kind of work different people do within those teams. It also gives you a good idea as to how your day to day might look like. In that context, the recruitment process also becomes clearer as you can see why certain skills are tested for.
Culture
Everyone was extremely friendly and made sure that we were all comfortable at the office. I met several people within the organisation who were willing to chat with me and explain their jobs and functions.
Your Impressions
I had a very good time during my vacation scheme as I had a right balance of work, networking opportunities, and new learning experiences. I got the chance to work on new things that I had never done before with the help of supportive colleagues. I definitely enjoyed the process!
Yes
Make sure to practise case studies and be ready to answer interview questions on them. Brush up on basic quantitative skills as well. Have an idea of the skills matrix the firm is looking for as this is helpful when doing the psychometric tests.
